My Honest Ryze Mushroom Coffee Review: Is It Really Worth Trying?
If you're anything like me, your morning doesn't start until you've had that first cup of coffee. Or in my case, those first three cups.
I was a serious coffee addict, constantly chasing that caffeine high while battling the inevitable jitters, afternoon crashes, and uncomfortable digestive issues that came with it (don't ask me about those).
I had been doing a bunch of research into what could possibly replace coffee and got a ton of different alternative suggested to me. Things like energy drinks, caffeine pills, focus supplements and more. That's right about when I started to get a bunch of Ryze ads....they knew.
I never really thought that I could replace my coffee with a similar-type of drink. I thought I'd have to fully find a new solution. But I knew I'd be reluctant which is why Ryze was so interesting to me off the bat. I mean, I've been drinking coffee for over 15 years.
Long story short, I gave Ryze a shot and simultaneously did a ton of research into the benefits of mushroom coffee and it's potential benefits.
I bought Ryze directly from their website here for $27 - it was a subscription (I could easily cancel it afterwards) and I got free shipping on my order which was great. I wish Ryze was on Amazon, but they aren't yet!
Before diving into my experience, let's talk about why mushroom coffee is creating such a buzz (that I now know about). Ryze combines six powerful adaptogenic mushrooms with organic Arabica coffee, creating a unique blend that promises more than just a morning energy boost.
I've also been in the market for a product to help with bloating that I've been experiencing lately, and a bunch of Ryze customer's noted that Ryze really helped their bloating too. I didn't realize coffee could really mess up your gut so much, but my doctor had convinced me of it.
The mushrooms in Ryze are ancient superfoods like Cordyceps for stamina, Lion's Mane for focus, and Reishi for mood support. They're the real deal and I had no idea about them and their benefits before researching Ryze.
But with that said, there are a ton of mushroom coffee brands out in the world now....and they certainly aren't made all equally. A lot of other mushroom coffee brands use funky ingredients, don't test their ingredients for purity and aren't super open about their manufacturing processes.
What makes Ryze special is their proprietary blend of these functional mushrooms. They choose their specific mushrooms to hit on specific health benefits. Ryze combines their ingredient blend with organic MCT oil and coconut milk to provide sustained energy without the typical coffee crash, exactly what I need.
At just 48mg of caffeine per cup (less than half of regular coffee), it's the mushrooms doing the heavy lifting here, not the caffeine.
You might be wondering what exactly is in Ryze, and I was too. Below are all of the ingredients they include in their mushroom coffee blend. The magic of Ryze lies in its carefully selected, organic ingredients. Each ingredient serves a specific purpose. Ryze ingredients include:
You should also note that it's equally important to know what's not in Ryze: no artificial additives, no fillers, no added sugar, and no mysterious ingredients you can't pronounce.
All of their ingredients are 100% organic and naturally processed, which is awesome.
I'll be honest with you – the transition off of coffee entirely wasn't instant. The taste is different from your regular cup of joe. It's earthy and smooth, with a subtle coffee flavor that takes some getting used to. You might not love it off the bat, but you'll get used to it (and start to appreciate it).
During the first two weeks, I found myself still reaching for my regular coffee occasionally. Especially those mid-afternoon coffee shop runs. But something interesting started happening – I began noticing my energy levels were more stable, and my usual mid-morning stomach discomfort was disappearing and I was feeling better each day.
Let's address the elephant in the room – what does mushroom coffee actually taste like? As a long-time coffee enthusiast, I can tell you it's unique, but not in the way you might be thinking. Ryze has a smooth, coffee-forward taste with subtle earthy undertones.
It really doesn't taste like mushrooms (luckily)– instead, Ryze has a gentle, less acidic coffee taste with a hint of earthiness and natural creaminess from the coconut milk. If you add milk or creamer to your real coffee, then you will have no issue with Ryze. You'll notice it might actually taste much better and palatable.
In the beginning, I found the taste most approachable in the afternoon rather than first thing in the morning when my taste buds were extra sensitive. I originally started with some really hot water and sometimes adding a splash of oat milk or my favorite creamer. I used the same creamer I had used with my coffee (thank you Coffee Mate) and that made Ryze quite delicious off the bat.
The earthiness might take a few days to get used to, especially if you're accustomed to strong, conventional coffee.
After a month of consistently drinking two cups of Ryze daily, I can honestly say I'm converted. I don't miss regular coffee anymore which is a pretty awesome feeling. If anything, I don't feel like I'm addicted to anything anymore. My digestion has improved significantly, and I no longer experience that uncomfortable morning stomach sensitivity that used to really plague me. Thank you Ryze!
The energy RYZE provides feels different – it's more sustained and balanced. Instead of the immediate jolt and eventual crash I got from regular coffee, I feel clear-headed and focused throughout the day. I will say that I almost always need a second cup of Ryze to get me through the day. But the roller coaster energy is gone.
The taste grew on me too. I initially was skeptical as I mentioned, but I grew into it after a few weeks. I might actually like it a bit better than coffee now. It feels more natural and just generally more healthy than pure black coffee right in the morning.
Obviously, and like all dietary supplements, they aren't for everyone out there. They don't work with a 100% success rate and some folks might find more benefits from them than others. A few folks Ryze wouldn't be great for include:
You can also only buy Ryze online through their ecommerce website - they are sold through third-parties on Amazon and not available in nationwide retail shops yet.
There are a bunch of reasons to give Ryze a try, but here are a few:
You might not know this or not, but the FDA does not approve or disapprove of dietary supplements. The regulations are a bit more relaxed with dietary supplements when compared to pharmaceuticals. That's why we were a bit disappointed when we saw Ryze does not independently test their products.
A lot of dietary supplement brands will have their products independently tested throughout their manufacturing process to reflect their confidence in their product and also give consumers third-party results on what is actually in their products. Since Ryze doesn't do this, you have nothing to really look at to see if the ingredients in their products are truly what they say they are.
OK - now the real talk. Is it worth it? How does Ryze compare to daily coffee in terms of price? At around $1.20 per serving (if you go with their subscription model), RYZE isn't the cheapest coffee alternative out there. It costs me about 20% more than my coffee routine would, but overall, it's just an extra $10 per month or so.
And if we are being real - that is absolutely worth all of the benefits that Ryze gives me.
Ryze does offer a subscription service with free shipping and a 30-day money-back guarantee, making it relatively risk-free to try. Their products start around $27/month and you get a bunch of free add-ons in your first order. So it's a great value off the bat and if you don't need more than a cup per day, then it likely ends up being cheaper than coffee (less than $1/day).
If you don't love online subscriptions, then you might not like Ryze. It's a subscription-first business. It's hard to buy their products without getting on a subscription - they do a pretty good job of hiding the one-time purchase option on their website.
If you're tired of the coffee jitters, dealing with digestive issues, or simply looking for a healthier alternative to your daily coffee, I recommend giving Ryze a try. Just remember to give it a few weeks to get the full benefits, like most supplements and benefit-driven products. For me, the full benefits took about two weeks to kick in, but the patience paid off and was absolutely worth it.
You can also check out a ton of the ir customer reviews on their website. They have over 100,000 total reviews. A lot of their customers note that they enjoy the taste of Ryze and the general health benefits they get from the product.
You can also check out some of Ryze's more negative reviews, although they don't show you that many on their website. Customers leaving negative reviews generally comment that they don't love the taste, think it's too expensive or say that they didn't feel the benefits.
The taste might not blow you away at first, but it grows on you, and the health benefits make it more than worth the adjustment period. After experiencing the difference in how I feel, I can't imagine going back to regular coffee. Ryze has become an essential part of my morning ritual, and I'm healthier and happier for it.
If you still have questions about Ryze, then keep reading as we likely answer them for you below! You can also read Ryze's full FAQs on their website here.
While Ryze contains beneficial ingredients like adaptogenic mushrooms and less caffeine than regular coffee (48mg vs 100mg+), it's important to have realistic expectations. The mushroom blend offers potential benefits for energy, focus, and gut health based on traditional use and preliminary research. However, as with any supplement, individual results may vary. What I can say from personal experience is that it's been gentler on my stomach and provides more sustained energy than regular coffee.
Most people, including myself, go through an adjustment period. The first few days might feel different as your body adapts to less caffeine. I noticed the full benefits after about two weeks of consistent use, including better digestion and more stable energy levels. The earthy taste also takes some getting used to, but becomes enjoyable over time.
It's simple: mix one tablespoon with 8-10 ounces of hot water. I personally like to:
While Ryze uses natural ingredients, it's always best to consult with your healthcare provider before using any supplement during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The adaptogenic mushrooms and caffeine content may not be suitable for everyone.
Ryze isn't primarily a weight loss supplement. However, if you're replacing high-calorie coffee drinks with RYZE (which has only 15 calories per serving), it could support your overall weight management goals. The stable energy it provides might also help reduce cravings and crashes that lead to unhealthy snacking.
Most people tolerate Ryze well, especially compared to regular coffee. I personally experienced fewer side effects than with regular coffee - no jitters or stomach issues. However, if you're sensitive to mushrooms or take blood thinners, diabetes medication, or cancer treatments, consult your healthcare provider first.
Like all dietary supplements, Ryze is not FDA-approved, as the FDA doesn't approve dietary supplements. However, Ryze is produced in the USA under strict quality control standards, and their ingredients are organic and tested for purity.
Each bag contains 30 servings when using the recommended one tablespoon per cup. If you follow their suggestion of two cups daily for optimal benefits, one bag will last about 15 days.
Yes! With half the caffeine of regular coffee, Ryze is less likely to disturb your sleep. I've found I can enjoy it in the afternoon without affecting my sleep quality, though everyone's caffeine sensitivity differs.
Ryze has a unique taste profile - it's like a smoother, earthier version of regular coffee. While it won't taste exactly like your usual brew, most people, including myself, grow to enjoy its distinct flavor, especially when considering the health benefits it provides.
